Foundational System

Nitric Oxide Release™ (NOR)

Foundational Movement, Fascia, and Recovery System

Nitric Oxide Release™ is the foundational movement system within Dynamic Release Techniques™. Developed by Dr. Jon Petrick, NOR™ uses specific full-body movement patterns to improve fascial mobility, circulation, breathing mechanics, neurological regulation, and recovery.

  • Step 1 of the DRT system
  • 5 movement protocols
  • 9 total movements

The Technique

Controlled fascial release through precise stretching.

NOR is a specific stretching methodology designed to release restrictive tension across interconnected fascial planes. The technique uses controlled positioning, direction-specific stretching, and precise sequencing to improve tissue length, fascial glide, and movement through connected anatomical regions.

The goal is not aggressive manipulation. The goal is controlled fascial release through precise stretching, untwisting the fascia and restoring proper movement.

Clinical Objectives

Eight Primary Goals of NOR™

Stimulate Nitric Oxide Release

Improve Microcirculation

Enhance Lymphatic Drainage

Improve Fascial Mobility

Promote Neurovascular Mobility

Improve Tissue Oxygenation

Reduce Muscle Guarding

Optimize Functional Movement

The Methodology

About the System.

NOR™ is not traditional stretching. It is a structured movement system designed to influence fascia, circulation, and neurological tone.

1

Fascial Integration

The fascia is one of the main target structures because it connects the entire body and plays a major role in motion, tension, hydration, and recovery.

2

Nitric Oxide Response

Nitric oxide is an important signaling molecule involved in blood flow, oxygen delivery, vascular function, cellular communication, tissue repair, and recovery. NOR™ uses coordinated movement, fascial elongation, controlled breathing, and rotational decompression to support this natural response.

3

Protocols & Application

Includes 5 movement protocols and 9 total movements. These may be taught as self-applied routines, practitioner-guided protocols, athletic warmups, recovery sessions, or preparation before more advanced hands-on treatment.

Benefits

What NOR™ Helps Address

Mobility & Flexibility

Improves mobility and restores normal movement through structured fascial elongation, decompression, and tissue gliding. Helps reduce fascial adhesions, improve joint motion, and support healthier cellular tissue movement.

Breathing Mechanics

Restores rib cage mobility and diaphragmatic function to improve breathing mechanics, thoracic expansion, and oxygen delivery. Enhanced respiratory efficiency supports better tissue oxygenation, circulation, and recovery.

Circulation & Recovery

Promotes circulation and supports the body’s natural nitric oxide response, improving tissue perfusion and nutrient delivery. May help reduce lactic acid accumulation, decrease post-treatment soreness, accelerate recovery, and support healthy fascial remodeling.

Stress Reduction

Encourages neurological relaxation while supporting the body’s natural nitric oxide response, which may help decrease cortisol levels, reduce muscular guarding, relieve chronic tension, and improve overall recovery and well-being.

Athletic Performance

Optimizes movement quality, flexibility, and tissue mobility for improved athletic performance. By reducing fascial adhesions, enhancing circulation, and supporting nitric oxide production, NOR helps prepare the body for activity while promoting faster recovery and reduced soreness.

The Pathway

How NOR™ Fits Into DRT™

NOR™ is the entry point into Dynamic Release Techniques™. It prepares the body before Passive Release Techniques™, Dynamic Instruments™, and STOMUA™ by improving movement quality, fascial readiness, and neurological relaxation.

Nitric Oxide Release™ teaches the body to move, breathe, circulate, and recover more efficiently. It is the foundational system that begins the Dynamic Release process.

Precision. Motion. Restoration.
